Save the Date
We filmed our very own Save the Date video! It was very exciting and we had to get a little creative with the shooting since we did the shots ourselves. It couldn’t have worked out any better though. It was a sunny and warm afternoon at Jack London Square Historic State Park, and we managed to get all of our footage done without any of the tourist in the background. We hope you enjoy it!
It was towards the end of 2011 spring quarter where Lauren and Garrett met at SLO OP. They quickly became friends, but Garrett went away for the summer to do an internship with a Northern California tech company called Agilent Technologies. After a few summer months passed, Garrett came back to start his final year at Poly, and that is when the friendship grew stronger and into something more serious.
Yep, Garrett found Lauren on Facebook and the two reconnected again after a whole summer of no contact. After chatting online one night, the two decided to chat in person at Avila Beach. Garrett suggested that Lauren should pick him up because his car, a 1988 Toyota Celica, would scare her if she rode in his car to the beach. It was just the two of them on the Avila Pier looking up at the clear starry night sky. They talked about anything and everything until 3 a.m. and realized at that point they were very compatible and had so many things in common.
Garrett would come over every day to Lauren’s house and hang out. She would cook, clean and watch Breaking Bad episodes with Garrett until she fell asleep. Lauren lived at a small quaint home on Sandercock st. with seven other people. The house was filled with so much energy and personality; there was someone always home, and it was likely that someone would be sitting on the front porch swing enjoying the day. So as the days went by and as the two got closer as best friends, so did Garrett’s heart. He plucked up the courage to hold Lauren’s hand when they were walking the dog together one evening, and that was when Lauren knew things would change from that day on.
December 22nd 2011 was when they made it official and embarked on a journey that changed both of their lives. Within two months, Garrett asked Lauren to move with him to Northern California after his graduation. Shortly after his graduation they went on a 1,000 mi. road trip across Utah and Arizona, and much of their trips consisted of hiking and/or climbing. They adventured to Hawaii and the Yukon and many more places in between. They’ve made Petaluma and Rohnert Park their homes, and now they’re looking at an even bigger adventure: becoming the Foltzes.
The couple is inseparable. They do everything together from carpooling to outdoor adventures and concerts to running errands. As Lauren describes Garrett, “He calms me. Garrett is my home, and he is my other half, my better half. There’s no one else I’d rather be with, no other person I’d rather share my memories with, no other person I’d rather wake up next to in the morning who makes me feel like the world is my oyster.”
